I have been researching trauma and resilience for a few years through my work and studies in public health and anthropology. Trying to understand how both work in relation to community, the structural environment, the historical legacy of oppression/racism and ultimately the individual and family. I often use the conceptual frameworks of trauma producing systems and resilience building to overlap or project onto important health and wellness issues. Having trained in Neurofeedback in 2019, I am currently training under supervision to become a Neurofeedback practitioner/clinician focused on providing neurofeedback training for trauma, ADD, Autism SD, high-performance and building resilience. I am dedicated to using my research, education and neurofeedback training to focus on supporting healing centered, resilient individuals and communities.
In my prior experience, I also had the pleasure to collaborate with a documentary filmmaker, Angela Webb, on ethnographic interviews involving the post 9/11 experiences of members of the Northern California AMEMSA (Arab, Middle-Eastern, Muslim, South East Asian) community. The interviews resulted in a video (AMEMSA Voices) particularly focused on: 1. experiences of discrimination and, 2. their recommendations for positive community building and activism.
